This wood has a coarse grain, and the colour of the heartwood is a dark brown tending to black with yellowish and well-defined thin veins.

It is considered very durable and has a good workability.

The drying process must be slow to obtain great results.

Wengè wood is widely utilised in general housing for flooring, parquet, frames, and panelling, as well as in crafting luxury furniture and cabinets.

Its application extends to plywood and decorative veneer, where its rich colour and grain enhance aesthetic appeal.

Wengè is also favoured for turning, producing ornaments, furniture, and durable utensils. Additionally, it finds use in creating musical instruments and intricate handicrafts.

Due to its properties, Wengè wood is not recommended for marine environments where prolonged exposure to moisture could compromise its durability.
